As the Student Challenge is slowly coming to its conclusion, we are happy to share with you the two teams selected as finalists.
On 31 July, the Secretariat received thirteen excellent submissions from talented teams across our Members, which were evaluated by a panel consisting of three independent experts. After a careful review of all submissions by the panel, we are delighted to announce that the two outstanding teams selected as finalists are (in alphabetical order of their university):
“Unbound Potential”, a team led by Pier Giuseppe Rivano (Master student at ETH Zürich)
“MIDAS”, a team led by Elias Broeckhoven (PhD candidate at KU Leuven)
The student leaders of the two selected teams will join us for the CESAER Annual Meetings (CAM) in Madrid. The winner will be announced during the High-Level Conference on 19 October 2023, and the two finalists’ videos will be showcased.
Launched at the beginning of March 2023 by the Task Force Learning & Teaching, this challenge gave student-led teams from our Members the chance to design and showcase their ideas on how science and technology contribute to sustainability. Submissions were evaluated along three dimensions: (i) Novelty, (ii) Scientific and Technological Excellence, (iii) Sustainability and Impact. Outstanding teams were selected as finalists after a careful review of all submissions by the evaluation panel.
