Our Director Elvira Fortunato has been appointed new Portuguese Minister for Science, Technology and Higher Education, departing our association’s Board of Directors with warm thanks and congratulations.

Elvira Fortunato has been appointed as Portugal’s new Minister for Science, Technology and Higher Education, and departs her directorship of our association with warmest thanks and congratulations.

Having served as Vice‐Rector for Research at Universidade NOVA de Lisboa since 2017, our General Assembly on 15 October 2021 elected Elvira as Director for the term from 2022 to 2025 .

Following the Portuguese elections earlier this year, Prime Minister António Costa announced Elvira’s nomination to government. Beginning her Ministerial term of office on 30 March, Elvira has subsequently stepped down from our association’s Board.

The Board extends its warmest congratulations to her and looks forward to continuing working with her in her new position.
