Joint call to promote fair access to data for research purposes through Data Act

CESAER, EUA, The Guild, Knowledge Rights 21, LIBER and SPARC Europe welcome ongoing efforts towards promoting scientific knowledge in the negotiations of the EU Data Act.

LEUVEN, 8 May 2023

CESAER together with EUA, The Guild, Knowledge Rights 21, LIBER and SPARC Europe today issued a joint statement with recommendations for the ongoing negotiations on the Data Act.

Mattias Björnmalm (Secretary General) said:

"As there was concern last year for how the overall landscape of digital legislation was developing, it is warmly welcomed that the negotiations for the Data Act are moving in the right direction.

"The joint statement published today welcome progress to date, and formulate recommendations towards ensuring that the Data Act supports the role of scientific knowledge to ensure a Europe fit for the digital age. "
