Karel Luyben, CESAER Vice President for Research, has been selected as Chair of the Executive Board of the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC).
The Executive Board will set the direction for the EOSC, an ambitious long-term plan worth €6.7 billion that will connect data public and commerical infrastructures, allowing the storing, sharing and reuse of data on an unprecedented scale.
Attendees at the official EOSC launch in Vienna on the 23rd of November were given a demonstration of the first version of the EOSC portal, which is due to launch in 2020.
Since 2016, Karel Luyben has been a member of the Open Science Policy Platform, an EU advisory group of 25 members, and he was appointed National Coordinator by the Dutch Open Science Platform in February 2018. His candidacy was also supported by the European University Association (EUA) and the European Federation of Academies of Sciences and Humanities (ALLEA).
