Our Envoy Rik Van de Walle contributed to an opening event for the Belgian Presidency

Rik Van de Walle, our Envoy to the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the EU, was invited to an opening event at the Joint Research Center (JRC) in Ispra.

On 9 January, the JRC in Ispra (Italy) organised an Opening Ceremony of the Belgian Semester of the Council of the EU which was attended by the Ambassador of Belgium to Italy, Pierre-Emmanuel De Bauw.

After the official ceremony, Rik Van de Walle, Rector of the University of Ghent and CESAER Envoy to the Belgian Presidency, delivered a presentation on “The Role of Academia in the EU and Beyond” ”, followed by a panel discussion moderated by JRC Director for Sustainable Resources Alessandra Zampieri.
