The leading universities of Science and Technology (S&T) united within CESAER published today an input note ‘Towards next framework programme for research and innovation 2028-2034 (‘FP10’)’.
This input note summarises and synthesises previous contributions from our association. It also provides key considerations to help shape the design efforts of the successor of Horizon Europe, i.e. the framework programme for research and innovation 2028-2034 (‘FP10’).
We provide the following key design considerations for FP10:
“Since the establishment of CESAER in 1990, our association has been a constructive partner in the development of successive cycles of the EU funding programmes, which have evolved substantially over time. These programmes have gone from strength to strength, adding substantial value for Europe. As we move forward, let us continue building and focusing on where the EU framework programme has the most impact: supporting cutting-edge science and technology across the full knowledge value chain.” - Rik Van de Walle, President of CESAER (2020-2023) and Rector of Ghent University
“The EU framework programme for research and innovation is in a unique position delivering tremendous value directly in an area where our continent is one of the global leaders. We should play to our strengths. For FP10 we should be bold and ambitious, and seek to break all previous financial or political barriers. The key design considerations presented today would put us on the path to achieve that.” - Mattias Björnmalm, Secretary General of CESAER
